ⅩⅩⅧ Ars Cameralis Festival
Scream — an introduction to silence
(…) We’ve summoned different types of scream to our Festival — scream of despair, scream of wrath, scream of joy and ecstasy, scream of farewell, voiceless and silent scream, scream of the unprotected, scream of the satiated. We also invoked scream of history, scream of remembrance and scream of blurred memories, which last as long as they express their own lost tale.
We wanted to restore scream. Point out its esthetic and artistic functions, its emphatic role, which fulfills itself on various levels of expression and also the withholding of voice. Beacuse silence and scream are tied together closely. They are like Siamse siblings, obverse and reverse, inhale and exhale. Their bond boils down to the essential question: what should be left unsaid to strenghten what was previously shouted? (…)
Scream can be an expression of a rebellion, but it may also be used to shake things up, state the inexpressible, and as a result — to put our complicated world back together. Ars Cameralis Festival went on one of its most beautiful adventures. The arrival of scream of empty places and scream of many farewells. Because you can lift only as much as you’ve shouted out. And the rest is silence.
