Motto: Shadow of the Sun / Guillaume Apollinaire
The shadow of sun upon us darkens history, space and time. How unadequant are these cathegories to start up a conversation. We want to look at the fate of the world as a cycle of consecutive rebellions, instead of just saying: history. We replace the concept of time with endless music, which floats against the pressure of passing moments. Space? It bends in unexpected spots of space and time. Therefore we create our own space — intimate and hospitable. The best harbor for a wanderer.
All courses of the Festival’s menu are arranged into series of notions, images, crazy impulses and scraps of memory. Glimmering as the shadow of sun, it is capable of telling a simple yet interesting story about Apollinaire’s ghostly secret of crossing the maze between past and future, traditional and modern, lost and restored. Will it be possible to found this secret? We already have the map, full of nooks, alleys and bends. We have laid out various paths, tracks and connections throughout Katowice and Silesian cities. Trance. Rhythm. Rave. But also longingness of bygone worlds. And our world which is losing its radiance forever. Apollinaire writes: ‘Photography, you are as the shadow of sun’. Maybe together we will be able to bring it back to life, even just for a moment?
